before the age of enlightenment the earth was filled with many nations living under vastly differing beliefs about the world.. tribes, nations and empires possessed fanciful superstitious beliefs about their own importance in the big picture.. religion helped man find a place among fearful gods and demons.
faith and belief, ritual and performance duties, helped man allay fears by.
becoming active in appeasing the gods and shunning the evil spirits.. judaism allowed adherents a means of ridding themselves of sin (animal sacrifice) and accounting for wrongs (justice via law).. christianity removed animal sacrifice and substituted fealty to the church (catholic).

i remember growing up and hearing all sorts of stories about demonic activity from people.
some would be experiences that people had going door to door and visiting a "witch" or "warlock".
some would inadvertently go to a fortune tellers door and have a demonic experience.. i was always facinated by all the stories.
Cheezits,
So your experience with the lamp negates hundreds of years, if not thousands of years, of supernatural experiences?
I think not.

The last time I got on a thread like this, my account was suspended.
Let's just say I've had a few experiences.

here are some things that came from the mouth of the district overseer over the course of the two days.
1. the recession isn't going to end.
things are screwed because the demons are controlling the world.
Since everything is controlled by the demons, we can't do anything at all.
Since we can't seem to be able to control ourselves, we can't have large gatherings.
Since we are all a bunch of alcoholics, when we get together in small groups, as instructed, we can't have a glass of wine, or a beer.
Since we are a bunch of sex crazed maniacs, we cannot be alone with the opposite sex, not even for a second.

Maybe he really did recant because he didn't want to see people getting hurt. That is not the reason.
Like I said, the reasons may come out later.
